Derby and Belper

A trip out in the car with my support worker today. I had planned to visit two places in the city in particular; I visited one and was disappointed and couldn't even find the other. The exhibits at the touring Leonardo da Vinci exhibition at the museum were tiny and quite faint and difficult to see, people certainly needed the magnifying glasses which were provided. Pickford House, a museum with a collection of Agatha Christie memorabilia was a bit further out from the city centre than I thought and so we didn't find it.

We also visited one of the city centre parish churches and the cathedral.

On the way back home to Doncaster we stopped at Belper and went inside the Beaurepaire Tearooms for tea and cakes. The owners also bake bespoke wedding cakes and provide a full catering service. Sitting at the table opposite to us was a young couple discussing their wedding plans with the manager - she was so happy, keen, enthusiastic and engaged, whereas her fiance was totally uninterested and probably didn't even mutter a word; it was fascinating to hear the details of the plans such as taster cake sessions, sugar roses, special dietary needs, incorporating fresh flowers into the cake design and structure etc. etc. etc. I wouldn't bet on the wedding actually going ahead though.
