It's been free admission today at Newstead Abbey near Mansfield as part of the Heritage Open Week; I still had to pay for parking though,.
I had a brace on each knee was comfortably able to cope with all the steps inside the building.
My walks in the Peak District and the surrounding areas, using public transport to get there...also some of my days out; when I still walk quite a bit too.

A trip on the bus to Retford this morning, everything went according to plan, unlike a couple of weeks ago when two buses didn't turn up and I had to go back home.
The gates to the churchyard were padlocked shut, something I've not come across before; either at Retford, or anywhere else. When I was in the park I did notice the the Union Jack was flying at half mast, I wonder if the two things are for the same reason.
My legs are still a bit weak and sore, but I'm on the road to recovery.
A trip out to Skipton with my support worker today; unfortunately there aren't many photographs because we spent most of our time looking around the shops and the market; I was taking it easy and had my legs strapped up. For the first time that I can remember I forgot my glasses, but I managed perfectly fine.
I had planned to go to Retford today to meet my friend and also take some photos for the blog. My legs are still weak and sore at times but I should have managed fine. After waiting for fifty minutes for two buses which didn't show up I came back home, walking through my local park and taking a few photographs.
I'm taking a break from regular walking at the moment because of painful shin splits. If I were to continue they might progress to something worse. The way to recovery is rest and ice packs...or, in my case at the moment, a bag of frozen peas draped over my leg.
