Bakewell and Over Haddon

I started my walk at Bakewell and headed up to Over Haddon, it's a steady climb up a bridleway and then along a short stretch of road until reaching a footpath going across the fields.

I walked through the village and then headed northwest across more fields. After about a mile and a half the footpath reached the Bakewell to Monyash road and I took this route back to Bakewell.

It's been cloudy and not a very good day for photography...and uncomfortably chilly at times.

Tickhill to Edlington

A quick walk this morning before the forecast rain came. I travelled on the Worksop bus to Tickhill and made my way along the back lanes towards Wilsic. I then walked through the woods, turning off before reaching Wadworth. I arrived at Old Edlington and walked down the hill to catch the bus from the first stop in the village, which all the routes going back to Doncaster use.

There was a lot of rubbish tipped along one of the country roads, this wasn't the only pile.

Much further on, at Old Edlington, everything looked perfect in the sunshine.

Longshaw Estate

I didn't fancy doing a lot of walking today in the hot sunshine, especially across open moorland and so I travelled to the Longshaw Estate, just over the boundary in Derbyshire. It's high up on the moors but there's plenty of woodland to provide some shade. I didn't have a planned route, I didn't even look at my map; I know the area well but was still hoping to find some places new to me...and I was successful.

I was able to treat myself to a small tub of Sicilian lemon ice cream from the cafe at the Information Centre on my way back to the bus-stop at Fox House.
