When I checked last night the weather forecast for Doncaster was a bit better than it was for Bakewell and so I caught the Barnsley bus and travelled to Goldthorpe. The concrete Italianate church there is unique in the country, I think.
I started the walk by climbing up to the summit of Phoenix Park.
I continued heading north until I reached the road that links Clayton and Hooton Pagnell. The path continues to Frickley Park and beyond to the former station house at Moorhouse.
The dandelions in the field won't be lasting very long since the farmer was spraying them with a chemical; I made sure I kept well clear.
I followed the path that uses the disused railway line and then took another path which goes to Moorhouse. After walking along the road for a few yards there's a bridleway which climbs up to a road and then a footpath continues across the fields to Hampole Wood. I got lost in the wood, there are a lot of paths, both official and unofficial. I had to re-trace my steps, but soon picked up my regular route going towards Pickburn though. I didn't go to Pickburn on my way to the end of the walk at Woodlands today, instead I walked up the road to Markham Grange Garden Centre and had the latest scone I've ever eaten at the cafe there.
