A short local walk today before the rain came. I caught the bus to Mexborough because there wasn't a train due for fifty minutes. I got down onto the canal towpath near to the railway station and headed east to Denaby Level Crossing. I then took a footpath going under the railway line and then skirted the edge of a small nature reserve before reaching Old Denaby.
I found the path that goes up through woodland and then across a field to Hill Top Road; it was a steep climb up the road until I reached an area of hillside called The Crags.
The route I chose when walking on The Crags came out in a housing estate. I only had to walk for a few minutes before reaching the bus stop in Conisbrough town centre - the bus arrived just as I reached the stop.
