Barnby Moor to Retford

I travelled on the Retford bus to Barnby Moor and walked down the road to the Chesterfield Canal; it's about a mile. I then walked on the towpath to Retford, a distance of maybe three miles. It 's been a lovely sunny day but there was a rather cold wind blowing.

Langold, Hodsock, and Carlton in Lindrick

My third short local walk; today I caught the Worksop bus to Langold and walked over to Hodsock, not taking the shortest route though, and then looped back to Carlton in Lindrick to catch the bus back to Doncaster.

When I reached the final  stretch of footpath going over to Carlton I thought my way was blocked when I saw this stile...it's even hard to see it in the photograph.

Fortunately a few yards away there was an open gate which I used to pick up the path; at least I didn't have to climb over the stile. There were four other stiles I had to deal with though, one of them being particularly difficult because of an overgrown hollybush that neeeded cutting back.

Conisbrough Hill Top, Firsby, and Conisbrough

The second of my short local recovery walks; today I caught the bus to Conisbrough Hill Top and walked down the track to the hamlet of Firsby. I then returned to the north taking a bridleway running parallel a few hundred yards to the east and arrived at the main road, from where I boarded a bus back to Doncaster.

Tickhill to Harworth

My first 'proper' walk in eight months since I had my accident, going across the fields and the golf course from Tickhill into Nottinghamshire. Including walking around Tickhill taking photographs my total distance covered came to about three miles I suppose. My legs were feeling good, I didn't need to wear any braces or strapping, but they're still feeling a bit weak and I'm taking things easy.

When I arrived at the bus stop at Harworth a bus was due in a couple of minutes and so I caught it rather than go up to the church to take some photographs. The weather was a bit disappointing, it was forecast for sunshine but was mainly cloudy.
