It was still daylight and so I took some photographs. My legs were the strongest and least painful they've been since my injury last summer, I managed to climb up and down several flights of stairs.Lee Firthhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13840041938444250850noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-380307493045525665.post-24455000969514357522024-03-07T16:20:00.001+00:002024-03-07T16:20:36.757+00:00GrimsbyA run out to Grimsby today: a rather disappointing day, there's not much to see there. We couldn't even find a decent pub to have a meal in and ended up in one that looked more like a nightclub. On the drive back home to Doncaster we called at Lilly's Tearooms in the village of Keelby, we were quite impressed.Lee Firthhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13840041938444250850noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-380307493045525665.post-23612501107206197192024-02-26T15:33:00.003+00:002024-02-26T15:33:44.156+00:00Newark-on-TrentNewark was a bit disappointing today: quite a few shops were closed, either becsause they'd gone out of business or because they've now joined the trend of not opening oin Mondays. It's still a nice town though and the castle and the church are lovely. I spent a couple of hours taking photos and looking round the shops. I bought a hot 'Bakewell pasty' to sit and eat down by the river; it was exactly the same as a Cornish pasty but the baker told me you can now only call them Cornish pasties if they're actually made in Cornwall.I caught the 257 Lee Firthhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13840041938444250850noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-380307493045525665.post-63804602737682165442024-02-05T13:28:00.003+00:002024-02-05T13:28:32.463+00:00Thorne A journey on the bus today to Thorne, a local town about ten miles northeast of Doncaster. It's flat and there aren't any steps so I didn't have any problems with my knees. I've recently been doing some pilates and stretch exercises and I'm seeing some improvement, especially when it comes to getting up out of a chair. It's been rather disappointing, many of the shops were closed and the weather Lee Firthhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13840041938444250850noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-380307493045525665.post-14450427505453224122024-01-15T12:50:00.003+00:002024-01-15T12:50:46.095+00:00RotherhamA visit to Rotherham today for a couple of hours; it's good to be able to get out independently again. It wasn't a long walk though, just a circuit of two local parks, but my knees didn't require any support, although I did take a couple of knee braces with me just in case.Lee Firthhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13840041938444250850noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-380307493045525665.post-82159816842311698872023-12-30T06:47:00.000+00:002023-12-30T06:47:18.218+00:00End of Year UpdateIt's now five months since I injured my legs; tore various tendons and ligaments in my knees. This week, for the first time since it happened I've been able to go out of the house without wearing any strapping or braces on my legs. I saw my first snow of the winter as we drove over The Wolds, but it was mainly sunny in Beverley. My legs are much improved, I only wore the minimum amount of strapping, but am still struggling with climbing stairs though. We struggled to find a pub where we could have lunch and so went to the cafe at Brown's department store.
